earlier on boardtraining costsThey were $16 per person per day. Additionally, guests staying in suite-category cabins will now automatically receive a $25 gratuity per day, per person. This is more than the $20 per person per day previously paid by suite guests.
Gratuities are automatically applied to each guest's final bill at the end of their cruise. While these costs are technically optional, they are highly recommended. All gratuities paid by guests go directly to the onboard staff and crew who help make guests' cruise vacations wonderful!
3. Changes to transatlantic itineraries
Norwegian Cruise Line's newest ship, Norwegian Viva, has been through some major changes to its transatlantic voyages lately.
The ship is scheduled to embark on its first Atlantic crossing on November 16, 2023 from Lisbon. Prima was originally scheduled to call at two ports in Portugal, four days at sea.
The itinerary has been changed to visit just one Portuguese port and it will now be five days spent at sea.
Norwegian Viva was originally scheduled to visit Bermuda on November 25th and arrive in New York on November 27th. Now the ship has been rescheduled to visit two destinations in the Caribbean; Santo Tomas and Puerto Plata. These stops will now take place on the 24th and 25th of November.
Once the ship leaves the Caribbean, it will conclude its voyage in Miami (instead of New York) on Nov. 27.
Guests currently booked on this special voyage received the following message from Norwegian Cruise Line: “We are committed to providing exceptional vacation experiences around the world. While it is always our intention to stick to the original itineraries, sometimes unforeseen circumstances force us to make changes. As a result of the fleet redeployment, your itinerary has changed and your voyage now ends in Miami, Florida,” Norwegian Cruise Line said of the new changes.
Many of the guests currently booked on this late 2023 itinerary will likely need to make other travel arrangements to return home from their cruise. There is currently no explanation as to why the major itinerary changes were made. Norwegian Viva is likely to call at specific ports for special events such as the official naming ceremony.
4. Service Changes and Failures
Norwegian Cruise Line plans to reduce cleaning services across its fleet in 2023.
Some of the changes include; Abolition of junior cabin steward positions. and cabin crew titles. The change now means that any crew member who assists with cabin cleaning and maintenance is classified as "flight attendant'.
“The removal of these positions will be phased out, allowing cabin attendants to complete their current contract. Jr cabin attendants. onboard will be promoted to cabin attendants on dates consistent with the dates of implementation of the new structure," Norwegian Cruise Line said in a letter to employees.
The change could mean fewer crew members will be available to help with cabin cleaning and maintenance.
Another major change is the change in the services provided in terms of cabin cleaning and maintenance.
“In the last two years, community trade has developed a lot. A new travel landscape has emerged from airlines, hotels and cruise lines with renewed tastes in all aspects of the guest travel experience. Environmental sustainability is more present than ever and will continue to play a crucial role in all business practices now and in the future," Norwegian explained of the recent changes.
5. Norwegian Cruise Line returns to traditional mock meeting
This week, Norwegian Cruise Line reached out to travel agents and several agency partners to announce that NCL will return to traditional briefing exercises on board its ships.
Prior to the announcement, invitees were able to complete the vast majority of their required mock meetings online via a simplified electronic mock meeting. Guests can watch videos and do the mandatory exercise before check-in. While guests still had to go to the designated pickup point in person, passengers could do so at a relatively leisurely pace on boarding day.
Effective immediately, Norwegian Cruise Lines' streamlined online exercise system is ending.
“The safety of our guests and crew is our top priority. "We are continually evaluating our procedures for providing our guests with detailed instructions on safety measures, and as such, we have made the decision to reintroduce synchronized muster drills across all ships in the fleet on the day of embarkation," Norwegian Cruise Lines said in a statement. declaration. .
“This policy is effective immediately upon each ship's next day of embarkation,” said Norwegian Cruise Line. This means that the new policy will take effect on all 18 ships currently operated by Norwegian Cruise Lines.
A return to the old system will likely mean that guests will have to spend more time on the check-in process before enjoying the ship and their vacation.
Norwegian cruise linehas several major updates and changes in 2023. The year will be very exciting for the cruise line as it expands and advances to new heights.
In particular, the opening of the second premium class ship, Norwegian Viva, will be a great opportunity to see the latest and greatest from this cruise line.
