The best OnePlus smartphones of 2023 (2023)

OnePlus smartphones are known for their powerful high-end specs combined with a relatively low price tag. Recently, the company has not only focused on the upper end of the market. A good example of this is the popularOne Plus Norte 2, a good device with mid-range specs at a low price.

In 2022 we saw the OnePlus 10 Pro in spring and the OnePlus 10T in summer, but not the base version. For now, in 2023, we'll only see an entry-level model in the form of the OnePlus 11. Technically, it's in between the two previous year's OnePlus phones.

Below is our ranking of the best OnePlus smartphones, with new and slightly older (and now cheaper) devices.

The best OnePlus smartphones

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the best smartphone from the manufacturer to date. It's a great smartphone that won't be for everyone, but you do get a good screen. The 6.7-inch AMOLED panel is bright, vibrant and easy on the eyes.

A maximum screen brightness of 1300 nits ensures you can read the screen in any weather, while a 120Hz refresh rate ensures a smooth scrolling experience.

Camera quality is pretty good, but not as good as other premium flagships. Still, take good pictures. There is a 48MP f/1.8 main camera, a 50MP f/2.2 wide-angle camera, and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera. The main camera produces bright and colorful images, while the wide-angle camera can handle a cool fisheye style photo.

Combine that with super-fast charging, decent battery life, and snappy performance, and you can't help but say the OnePlus 10 Pro is a smart buy.

The OnePlus 11 is the successor to the OnePlus 10 Pro, but it doesn't do everything better than its predecessor. The design and screen are basically the same as last year, but it lacks full water resistance. With its IP64 protection rating, the OnePlus 11 can only withstand heavy rain, but not a drop in a bucket of water.

In terms of performance, it doesn't disappoint with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which makes it more than suitable for gamers and power users. The 120Hz screen also contributes to good performance. The battery lasts a whole day even with heavy use and is fully charged with 100W fast charging after half an hour. Something missing here compared to the OnePlus 10 Pro is wireless charging.

The quality of the camera is very good, but not at last year's level, you can still take good pictures with it. There's a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 32-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Where the OnePlus 11 excels is in portrait and landscape shots. When it comes to zoom, the competition, including the OnePlus 10 Pro, does little better.

Unless you plan on taking landscape shots, the OnePlus 10 Pro is a slightly better option. Also, the OnePlus 10 Pro is currently cheaper in stores than the OnePlus 11.

The OnePlus Nord 2T isn't the most visually interesting phone. The design is rather bland, but the phone offers great performance for the price.

The Nord 2T has the same 6.43-inch, 90Hz AMOLED display as the Nord 2, and the camera hasn't changed either. So it's only a minor upgrade over its predecessor, but that certainly doesn't make it a bad phone.

With the new Dimensity 1300 processor, the Nord 2T offers good performance for the price. The phone heats up less quickly even with heavy use. The OnePlus Nord 2T is just a generally reliable phone, although not much has changed.

The OnePlus 10T is a better option than the OnePlus 10 Pro in some areas. The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor is more powerful than the 10 Pro, and the 10T can also charge faster with a 150W fast charging feature.

However, in most other areas, 10T is comparable or slightly lower. That's not too bad, because it costs less money than the 10 Pro. For example, if fast charging is a priority for you, then this is the best OnePlus phone for you. The OnePlus 10 Pro is only better as an all-rounder.

In addition to the powerful processor and fast charging feature, we also liked the OnePlus 10T's beautiful 6.7-inch display in our test. However, we don't find anything special about the cameras and the battery life is also disappointing, so it's good that the device charges quickly.

If you mostly game on your phone or want a OnePlus flagship but still find the 10 Pro a little pricey, it's definitely worth considering. We just felt there were too many negatives to put this one at the top of the list.

The OnePlus 9 Pro is undoubtedly a strong flagship. For example, the Pro has a luxurious and premium design, runs on an ultra-fast Snapdragon 888 chipset, and supports wired and wireless ultra-fast charging.

The biggest innovation is at the camera level. For years, OnePlus devices have managed to make life difficult for the expensive competition, except when you need to take pictures. Thanks to the partnership with Hasselblad, the OnePlus 9 series (and Pro in particular) saw a significant improvement in camera quality. The wide-angle camera in particular is significantly better than what we're used to.

There is also a 6.7 inch 120Hz AMOLED screen which produces beautiful visuals. All this beautiful technology comes at a price: for example, the price is very high by OnePlus standards.

The OnePlus 9 is the affordable version of the OnePlus 9 series. Anyway, performance isn't lacking; The Snapdragon 888 chipset under the hood makes this smartphone one of the fastest devices on the market.

As with the OnePlus 9 Pro, the collaboration with Hasselblad means photos look better than previous OnePlus devices. It uses the same main sensor and wide-angle camera as the Pro. Unfortunately, there's no telephoto camera, so you have to make do with digital zoom. Another point to note is that the OnePlus 9's build quality is slightly less premium than the Pro, though it still uses a glass back (rather than plastic like theSamsungGalaxy S21).

Another strong point remains OnePlus' charging technology. Thanks to Warp Charge 65W, the device is fully charged (!) in less than half an hour. Wireless charging is also possible for the first time with a regular model.

The OnePlus Nord 2 is not as good as the company's great flagships, but it is an excellent mid-range phone with better value for money.

The device has a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. There's also a 90Hz refresh rate, which is higher than the default 60Hz. However, we're seeing more and more devices with a 120Hz refresh rate, so while the display technology has improved, it's still not the best of the best.

There is a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP wide-angle lens. The cameras are capable of producing some powerful images. Under the hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI chipset that ensures good performance. The best thing about this device is 5G support and 65W fast charging. For the price, the OnePlus Nord 2 offers an excellent overall package.

You might see the OnePlus Nord CE 2 as a mix of flagship Nord devices and more affordable options. You get some premium items in an overall cheap package.

This smartphone features 5G connectivity, fast charging and an elegant design. In other areas, the device performs worse than the regular Nord 2, such as camera performance and overall speed.

In this price range, however, the Nord CE 2 is still an interesting option for different users, depending on what you are looking for.
